Malaysia’s MRO sector on course for RM55bil target

Malaysia’s aerospace maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) industry is targeting RM55 billion in revenue by 2030 to capture a larger share of Asia Pacific’s aviation services market.

Deputy Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Sim Tze Tzin said the sector is becoming a key pillar of the national aerospace industry, supporting over 12,000 high-value jobs.

Malaysia aims to move into higher-value segments such as component MRO, engineering services and aerospace manufacturing amid rising regional competition.

The aerospace industry generated RM32.5 billion in revenue in 2025, supported by more than 250 companies nationwide.

Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd said KLIA and Subang Airport aerospace hubs host over 30 per cent of industry players, with global firms like Airbus, Boeing and GE Aerospace expanding operations in Malaysia.
