WWE ALTERNATE BOOKINGS: Wrestlemania IV (1988)

As we continue the series in the long anticipation for the 40th anniversary of Wrestlemania, up next is Wrestlemania IV at Trump Plaza in Atlantic City. Wrestlemania 4 took place on March 27th, 1988 with 19,199 in attendance making $1.4 million at the gate. It drew a 480,000 pay-per-view buy, but had a much lower buyrate as the audience grew substantially since Wrestlemania III. Like previous Wrestlemanias, celebrities were brought in such as Bob Uecker, Gladys Knight, Robin Leach, Vanna White, and Donald Trump.
This time the PPV was a tournament for the vacant Undisputed WWF World Heavyweight Championship with the big match on the card was Hulk Hogan vs. Andre the Giant in the second round with multiple superstars in the first round such as Randy "Macho Man" Savage, Greg Valentine, Ricky "the Dragon" Steamboat, Rick Rude, Jake "the Snake" Roberts and more. Unfortunately the event was considered by critics and fans to be boring and excessive. We attempt to fix the pay-per-view for making for a more memorable experience.
