BBC1: John Craven's Newsround / Evening News (incomplete) / continuity - Wednesday 17th June 1981

The most part of an early evening sequence from Newsround to Nationwide. Unfortunately, there's a gap in the original recording during the Evening News.

That said, we kick off with a full edition of Newsround.

Headlines:
- Black children performing poorly at schools, inquiry report claims
- Five people trapped as building collapses in Glasgow
- Charles and Diana's wedding licence signed
- Protesters greet Prince Charles on New York visit
- Cavalry soldiers criticised after Trooping the Colour shooting
- Truro school pupils' plane takes off
- Durham farmer uses signing to help deaf sheepdog

Wildtrack follows, featuring a live phone-in with special guest David Attenborough, and then, (the majority of) the Evening News with Richard Baker.

Headlines:
- Cabinet backs Thatcher's 'no retreat' economic strategy
- Industrial output falls slightly in April
- Tony Benn leaves hospital
- Mixed support for 24-hour ambulance strike
- Four storey building collapses in Glasgow
- Report claims West Indian children underperforming in schools
- British officers cope with training new Zimbabwe army
- Chief Constable attacks press over 'vilification' in Yorkshire Ripper hunt
- Truro school's DIY aircraft takes to the skies

After the national weather from Jim Bacon, this sequence rounds off with a few clips from that evening's Nationwide, as seen in London and the South East - with an odd choice of top regional story.

Announcer Tim Nicholls leads the surrounding continuity.
