MORPHEUS transformer robot - Demo of wheel transformation - With REAL PROTOTYPE at end of video
A demonstration of the wheel transformation mechanism in motion. Morpheus is a system I'm currently working on as part of a mechatronics group project at the University of Sheffield. It will autonomously transform its wheels into a wheel-leg hybrid when it reaches difficult terrain where ordinary wheels would not suffice.
We have built a prototype of the wheel and gearbox mechanism and actuated it with motors under manual control via an Arduino Mega. The current virus outbreak has slowed our development down considerably though, especially as the university is completely closed and two of my teammates have returned to their home countries. Yet I'm determined to build the whole system, even if it takes longer.
