Captain Cook Hike & Snorkel
Captain Cook Trail is about 2 miles from the trailhead to Captain Cook Monument in Kealakekua Bay. The elevation to the sea is about 1400 feet (425 meters), all steady downward. Three ways to get to Captain Cook Monument: Hike, kayak or boat. We did kayak before and this time, we hiked. This location is probably one of the best for snorkeling. Unfortunately, the mongooses stole part of our lunch while we were in the water. The return trip was made tougher due in part to the heat.
