Undines Lied an den Mond
__________________________
1)
Mond, silbern, fahl, trostlos,
tief im Grau!
Menschen scheinst du, nicht Undinen.
Fahl leucht’st du denen, hast
niemals blau
glitzernd Undine beschienen!
Hart, herb, zerklüftet, blass,
farblos, rau!
So gehörst, Mond, du zu ihnen.
Mond, wärst du
menschenverwandt,
wär dein Strahl
menschennahes Band?
Nie spräch' dein Schein ihr,
wo Undine dann
bliebe.
Mond, hätt'st du
niemals gekannt
schwerelos
wasserleichtes Land?
So schwieg dein Schein still,
ob Undine je
liebe.
2)
Mond, hoch, fern, fort, dort im
leeren Raum,
taub, wenn Undine dich riefe.
Menschen nur lauschst du, doch
hörtest kaum,
rief’ sie aus wohliger Tiefe!
Klanglos, dumpf, dämmernd, hohl,
wie im Traum...
Niemand, der, Mond, so verschliefe!
Mond, wärst du
hörlos im All,
dräng' durchs Nass
nicht Undines Schall?
Nie wüsst' dein Schein dann,
ob Undine sei
kühle.
Mond, so um-
gäb' dich ein Wall,
prallte ab
dort Undines Hall?
So riet dein Schein nur,
wie Undine je
fühle.
3)
Mond, kalt, klamm, eisig, ohn'
Feuerlicht,
kannst nicht Undinens dich nennen.
Weiß sie, an was es dir,
Mond, gebricht!
Kannst doch von selbst niemals brennen!
Fremd, anders, irr, so ver-
magst du nicht
Wasser wie Feuer zu kennen!
Mond, wärst du
drum nur bemüht,
dass dein Strahl
auch im Wasser blüht'!
So früg' dein Schein sie,
ob Undine nur
spiele.
Mond, hätt'st du
Feuer, das glüht!
Lodernd hell,
nicht so stumpf und müd'!
So sagt' dein Schein ihr,
wann Undine einst
fiele.
