The Globe, the Heart and the Hourglass: modern fairy tale

"Once upon a time in an enchanted castle not so far from here there lived a wise woman. She kept a close eye on the trials and tribulations of all the young people around her."

"Robbie was a sad and lonely boy, twitching with nervous energy."

"Ella was a lost party girl who put having a 'ball' before her own safety."

"Peter was a nerd, more interested in the world of make-believe than what was going on around him."

Funded by West Hackney Parochial Charity and inspired by Hackney Empire's '100 Stories Project', 'The Globe, the Heart and the Hourglass' is Exposure's first foray into the magical world of fairy tales, exploring the often traumatic transition from childhood to adulthood.

Young people from Stoke Newington School, Hackney Empire and Mossbourne Academy developed the characters and script, acted in the film and helped behind the scenes on the day of the shoot.

The film was shot in location around the London borough of Hackney with kind support from the Castle Climbing Centre (formerly Hackney reservoir), Abney Park Cemetery and outside Hackney Empire.
