Small 'Portavision' CRT TV
Looking at a small portable colour TV from the early 90s here. These were quite expensive at the time, particularly if operated from a 12V supply. Badges Realistic (TANDY) this ‘Portavision-30’ TV has a 5” screen and was designed for the UK market using the PAL video format. It’s impressive, given the complexity of early colour CRTs it could be developed into such a small size.
The video looks at the construction of the TV and some interesting behaviours of the CRT itself.
There is also a extra bit on delay lines as used in analogue TVs.
Unfortunately , the video has some flickering images due to the beat frequency between the scan rate and camera refresh.
