For Sale: 1830's Tavern Turned Farmhouse

How many times have you dreamed of loading up a historic home and moving it to the land of your dreams? Well, that's exactly what happened 150 years ago when the Moose family came home after the Civil War (they had fled to Texas) and found their former family home burned after occupation by Northern troops.
They found the Markham Tavern, circa 1830, deserted but in good condition two ridges over in Lewisburg.
The family loaded the tavern onto logs, and pulled it to the site of their former home. They turned the former public home into their private space lived there for many years. The land on which the home sits was given to the Moose family as part of a 168 acre land grant given by President James Monroe.
The home has only been in the possession of three families since it's inception. The second owners served many years as diplomats for the United States in the Middle East and Europe, and it was under their ownership that some renovations were undertaken on the home.
The current owners have lovingly and exquisitely maintained and preserved the home.
The home now sits on just over 3.3 acres, and is listed at $439,000. Join us for a tour of this historic home and see if you might be its next caretaker.
