Police officer stabbed during overnight call near 19th Avenue and Bell Road in north Phoenix

A police officer is recovering after he was stabbed while responding to a call in north Phoenix early Sunday morning. Phoenix police say they were called to a gas station in the area of 19th Avenue and Bell Road for a report of trespassing. As the first officer on scene was escorting the man out of the gas station, he pulled out a knife and started attacking the officer.
