What You Shouldn't Do on Long Motorcycle Trips?
5 Useful tips to preserve your motorcycle!
This intro was the perfect example of what you shouldn't do on long motorcycle trips! Here, you might ask me: Pavlin, are you trying to say that I shouldn't do something that you just did? Yes, this is exactly what I mean. In this video, I will try to explain why, and I will also give you a few useful tips on how to preserve the motorcycle that you ride!
In my opinion, the goal of any motorcycle trip should be to complete it with minimum problems and maximum pleasure. For that purpose, you will need a reliable machine and a lot of good luck, right? I am sure that so far you will agree with me but what if I told you that in 90% of the broken-down situations the rider will be the main cause of it?
This means that you, yes, exactly you are responsible for the problems that you might or might not have during any of your trips. I know that it sounds ridiculous but let me explain to you!
The technical problems are like diseases, they never come just like that, or at least most of them. Here you might resist and tell me that I am not right because you have a brand new motorcycle, always treat it well but right in the middle of your trip the electronics failed and you cannot find a person to fix it!
N: 1 - Chose the right motorcycle
Most of the riders go on long trips with the wrong motorcycle. There are many debates about what bike to ride, big or small, injection or carburetor, air or water-cooled, and many more but the truth is that you are the only person that knows what you really need. The second tip is closely related to the first.
N: 2 - Use the motorcycle for what is designed for
With the intro, I gave you the perfect example that if you use it the way you shouldn't soon or later it will break. Just because you can find in its name the word " Adventure" it doesn't automatically that you can do whatever you decide, and it will handle it.
N: 3 - Stick to the main goal of the trip
If this is to ride trouble-free and visit as many as possible places just do it. On the other hand, if the idea is to have an off-road adventure pick the right, light motorcycle and go! Always keep in mind that all motorcycles have some pros and cons. Use the pros and avoid the cons.
N: 4 - Learn when to say "NO"
On almost any of my trips the people that I meet always try to test my skills or at least this is how I see it. They usually suggest some routes and of course I said yes but knowing the goal of my trip in many situations I should have said NO!
