A Midsummer Murder: The Poisoning of Hubert Chevis, 1931

Hubert Chevis and his wife became ill shortly after eating partridge at their Surrey home on Midsummer's Eve, 1931. Lieutenant Chevis died the following day, and police uncovered a labyrinthine set of circumstances involving the main characters. Who sent the telegram to Chevis's parents just days after the murder, saying "Hooray Hooray Hooray"? Who was "the small man with the grey moustache"? And who was the "other woman", who held the key to the mystery? When all was said and done, the suspects were limited to just four people - and one of them got away with murder, because in spite of extensive inquiries by police, no-one was ever charged...
