Glenn Miller - June 4th, 1940
On Tuesday evening, June 4th, 1940, at 10:00 PM (eastern time) Glenn Miller and his Orchestra broadcast their three times a week Chesterfield program over the CBS radio network. On the program that night there were some fan favorites and one or two lesser known songs. Listeners heard “Lady Be Good”, “Hear my song, Violetta” (Vocal:Ray Eberle), “Say Si Si” (Vocal: Marion Hutton), “Can You Hear Me Callin’, Caroline”? and the finale “My Blue Heaven”. After the broadcast the band played at a dance from 10:45 PM to 2:45 AM at the Alcazar Ballroom (Baltimore, MD) for John Hopkins University.
