Norris City Cemetery - East Norriton Township, PA
Norris City Cemetery is located in East Norriton Township, Pa. It was founded in the late 1850’s and is the burial grounds for approximately 2500 individuals. It is also the final resting place for many veterans including 138 soldiers from the Civil War.
In the 1980’s the Norris City Cemetery Company failed and the grounds fell into serious disrepair. East Norriton Township acquired the property, restored the grounds and currently maintains the cemetery.
The images in this video were shot on Memorial Day 2020. Flags had been placed on the Veteran’s graves by a local Veteran’s group and the grounds had been mowed and carefully trimmed by Township staff. The audio is “A Letter from Sullivan Ballou” from the PBS series “The Civil War” by Ken Burns.
The cemetery is a lasting and fitting tribute to the final resting place of America’s departed heroes.
