New Kia Truck Officially Named Tasman
Kia is set to release its own pickup truck, named the "Tasman," in 2025, following Hyundai's Santa Cruz launch. Unlike the Santa Cruz's unibody build, the Tasman will feature a more rugged ladder frame construction. Initially, it will be available in South Korea, Australia, Africa, and the Middle East, with its global potential yet to be fully unveiled. The U.S. market remains uncertain due to import taxes that could drive up its price. Kia teases the Tasman, highlighting its connection to Tasmania and the Tasman Sea, marking Kia's venture into the competitive pickup segment against the likes of Ford Ranger and Toyota Hilux. The Tasman is expected to debut with a 2.2-liter turbodiesel engine, offering various configurations including single and dual cabs. Future plans might include a six-cylinder or hybrid version, with Kia also aiming to introduce two EV trucks by 2027.
