Volkswagen Teases the New Golf GTI Clubsport Ahead of May 31 Debut
Volkswagen enthusiasts have something to look forward to as the new Golf GTI Clubsport officially debuts on May 31. The latest teasers provide a clear visual of what to expect from this high-performance hot hatch.
Unlike a standard GTI, the Clubsport features significant upgrades, including a new front fascia, upgraded headlights, and an illuminated VW badge in the grille. The rear sports a large roof spoiler, new taillights, and a rear fascia similar to the Golf R, complemented by single exhaust pipes at each corner. It rides on new 19-inch wheels, with the option of Warmenau forged wheels weighing 17 pounds.
Though still in a body wrap, the near-production model hints at its final look. Mechanical specifics remain mostly undisclosed, but VW assures that this will be the most powerful front-wheel-drive GTI ever. It includes an electronically controlled front differential lock and optional DCC adaptive chassis control. A unique Nürburgring-specific drive mode underscores its track-ready design.
While horsepower details are unconfirmed, it will exceed the current GTI’s 241 hp. The one-off GTI Clubsport 24h race car produces 343 hp, though the production model is expected to target rivals like the 315-hp Honda Civic Type R.
Stay tuned for full details as Volkswagen unveils the Golf GTI Clubsport at the Nürburgring during the ADAC 24-hour race.
