China warned to show Taiwan respect - BBC News
Taiwan’s newly re-elected President Tsai Ing-Wen told the BBC that China needs to face reality and respect the will of the Taiwanese people. Speaking exclusively to the BBC’s John Sudworth, President Tsai said the threat is intensifying from China, which claims the self-governing island of just 23 million people as part of its territory. But she warned that any military action to try and claim Taiwan could prove costly to China.
