So many of us don’t even know where to start when it comes into dialing in a solid, mix-ready metal guitar tone.

As a guitar player myself, this used to frustrate me more than anything.

No matter what amp head I used..

Or guitar cab..

Mic placement..

Amp sim..

There was always either something missing from my tone or just too much of something else.

When this would happen, like many others, I’d go bonkers EQing my guitars in the mix and my guitar tone always ended up sounding worse in the end.

SO ANNOYING.

I never had a clear idea on where I should be focusing my attention when it came to achieving the guitar tone I wanted for my production.

I really wanted those crystal clear guitar tones I heard on my favorite records.

Luckily, after many years of making life harder than it needed to be, I finally figured out how to dial in the tones I heard in my head…

It turned out to be so simple that it was hiding in plain sight.
