I've been having trouble with orcs on our property lately and the best way to deal with such a problem is to fabricate a sword that will strike fear into their hearts. Working with the art assets from Raid, I cut out the blade and handle of the sword from 1/2" plate on the CNC plasma table. Then I embarked on a marathon grinding session to sharpen all the sides of the blade. With the blade sharp, I cut and engraved an insert out of UHWM on the CNC router table and tapped it into the inside of the sword. I welded on some accent pieces, which also held the UHMW in place. With the sword all welded together, I rusted the accent pieces with a Japanese brown patina and applied some clear coat to seal it. The last step was to wrap the handle with the some grip tape and this sword was ready for battle!
