An Oxpecker is picking of a Cape buffalo's skin
Our extract from the wild today, features the relationship between the Oxpecker and the Buffalo and other grazing mammals. These birds are known to pick on tick and other mites on the bodies of the mammals which is helpful to the mammals. However at times they pick fresh wounds on the skin to drink blood which begs the question is the relationship symbiotic or are the birds just parasitic?
