A nice shot of a golden Indian deity with superimposed title reading: "The Associated British Picture Corporation - Proudly Presents - the Royal Tour of India - the Entire Journey in the Magic of Technicolor". Follows a list of credits.

Bristol Britannia plane lands at the airport in New Delhi. Indian delegation walking towards the plane. Indian President Mr Rajendra Prasad and Premier Pandit Nehru are there to meet the Queen and Prince Philip. Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh leaving the plane. They are greeted by Premier Jawaharlal Nehru and President Mr Prasad, Nehru's sister Mrs Pandit is also there. Cannons fire in honour of the Queen.

After the reception at the airport Queen and other dignitaries drive through the street of Delhi. Long procession of cars flanked by bodyguards on horseback driving slowly through the crowded streets. Queen is in the car with President Prasad and Prince Philip is in car with Prime Minister Nehru.

Queen and Prince Philip visiting the Shrine of Mahatma Gandhi. They remove their shoes and wear velvet slippers at the entrance. Queen and Prince Philip lay a wreath on the Gandhi's memorial. Mrs Pandit throws a single white rose and bows. Colourful flowers arrangements are seen on memorial. Queen then plants a tree near those of President Eisenhower and Mr Khruschev.

Queen and Prince Philip arriving to Jaipur, capital of Rajasthan. Crowd gathered to greet the Queen. Queen gets traditional welcome - nine young women in saris holding tall painted jars on their heads. Queen and Prince Philip observing the exotic and colourful men and women in traditional clothing, their make up and face jewellery.

Queen and Prince Philip were shown the village. Queen inaugurates water supply. Various shots of the mixture of old and new - woman grinding corn old fashioned way.

Entrance of the Maharaja of Jaipur's Palace. Procession of six heavily decorated and painted elephants is moving slowly towards camera. Queen is riding on one elephant, Prince Philip is riding on other elephant. A woman touches Queen's forehead and circles a tray with some burning elements on it around Queen's head - presumably some form of blessing.

Republican Day Parade - A military parade marching through the crowded streets - high angle shot. Queen and Duke ride with a President to a parade. Crowd cheering. Massive military parade with ground troops, men on horsebacks, camel troops, tanks and other armed vehicles, girls of the St. John Ambulance brigade in white saris, 12 great elephants, dancing children, native dancers etc.

Garden Party at the grounds of the presidential palace is held in Queen's honour. Several shots of the Queen and Prince Philip at the party, great looking women in fantastic saris, men in traditional clothing and turbans, some Europeans. Herbert Morrison who was lecturing in India, was among the guests.
