Mohammed Yusuf Khan known Dilip Kumar, is an Indian actor, producer and philanthropist was born on 11 December 1922 in a Muslim family in Peshawar, British India. His father Lala Ghulam Sarwar was a fruit merchant. His mother Ayesha Begum was a home maker.

He had five brothers: Acrot Nasir Khan, Ehsan Khan, Aslam Khan, Noor Mohammed, and Ayub Sarwar. Dilip Kumar had six sisters: Fauzia Khan, Sakina Khan, Taj Khan, Farida Khan, Saeeda Khan, and Akhtar Asif.

In 1966 Dilip Kumar married actress Saira Banu. He later married Hyderabad socialite Asma Sahiba That marriage ended in January 1983. Dilip Kumar does not have any children.
