Dharmendra is an Indian actor, a film producer and former politician. He was born as Dharam Singh Deol on 8 December 1935 in Ludhiana, Punjab, India. His father Kewal Kishan Singh Deol was a government school teacher. His moter Satwant Kaur was a homemaker.

In 1954, he got married to Prakash Kaur at the age of 19. The couple has two sons, Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol The couple has two daughters, Vijeeta Deol and Ajeeta Deol.Actor abhay deol is his nephew.
