Why Azerbaijan Has the Air Defence Advantage Over Armenia

A simmering, decades-long conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan over the enclave of Nagorno-Karabakh erupted in late September into the worst fighting the area had seen since a vicious ethnic war in the 1990s. Skirmishes have been common for years along the front lines of Nagorno-Karabakh, which is internationally recognized as a part of Azerbaijan but is home to ethnic Armenians.

On this occasion we’re going to review the S-300PT vs. S-300PMU-2. Let's start with the Armenian S-300PT Missile Battery.

Armenia currently deploys a Soviet-era variant of the S-300 which first entered service in 1982, the S-300PT, which provides the only credible asset for long range air defence other than its four Su-30 fighter jets.
