Teachers and support staff across the country took to the streets on Friday morning, March 25, to protest what they believe to be a too small salary increase. The Ministry of Education comes with a salary increase of 7%. However, the education union ADP is demanding a salary increase of 25%. Because the government does not agree, the union called for a nationwide strike and protest marches. Also in Sosúa, around half past ten on Friday morning, a large group of teachers and support staff marched through the streets of this seaside resort. The procession ended in front of the entrance to the district building of education for Sosúa in Calle David Stern. There it was loudly chanted that the teachers want a 25% pay increase. But there were also calls for an increase in the pension and renovation and modernization of the various school buildings. The teachers also shouted in unison that the street actions will continue in the coming days. Education has suffered too much from the lockdown.
