Goods support organizations in their day-to-day operations, whether they are manufacturers or service providers. Logistics Management is a key contributor to making sure these goods are delivered as promised to keep these operations running smoothly & ultimately satisfying customers.
As per the study, it was found that delayed, damaged or misdirected shipments occurred 27% of the time and suppliers were not able to meet customer needs 25% of the time due to poor logistics. The same study indicated that 85% of best practices companies had online visibility into transit status while in case of others this number was very low. This indicates an urgent need for better understanding of Logistics Management. Broadly Logistics cost nearly 15% of the total Supply Chain Management cost. Hence there is great potential for savings.
