How to Rejoin Coax Cable in an Emergency (No Parts Needed) aerial repair now, fix properly later

Description: Emergency Coax Cable Repair (No Extra Equipment Needed)

If you’ve accidentally cut through a coaxial cable and have no connectors or tools available, this method provides a temporary emergency repair that can restore your TV or satellite signal for a few hours or a couple of days at most.

Here’s how it’s done:
1. Strip back the outer insulation on both cut ends of the cable using a Stanley knife.
2. Peel back and remove the foil, if your cable has it.
3. Twist the exposed braid into a single conductor on both sides.
4. Carefully strip back the white foam (dielectric) to expose the solid copper core.
5. Twist the two copper cores together, ensuring a tight, clean join.
6. Then twist the braids together, making sure the braid and core don’t touch.
7. If possible, wrap the joint with insulation tape to prevent shorting or moisture ingress.

⚠️ Important Warning:
• This is a temporary, emergency-only fix. It should not be relied on for more than a day or two.
• If left exposed, water entering the joint can travel down the cable and damage your equipment.
• If there’s any risk of rain, it’s advisable to unplug the cable from your device until the cable is properly repaired or replaced.
• You can also bend the cable into a U-shape so that any water runs off away from the repair.

This method is for when no other options are available, and it can be a lifesaver in the short term — but always follow up with a permanent repair as soon as possible.
