Recently I had to buy a docsis 3.1 cable modem SB8200 because my ISP is running at capacity. Since COVID-19 has started my 300/30 Internet connection has been performing poorly. My old modem was a 16X4 DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem (SB6183) and my new one is a 32X8 DOCSIS 3.1 cable modem. Here I benchmark speeds before and after. Granted there si some improvement, however I shouldn't need more than 16 downstream channels on my old DOCSIS 3.0 modem to continue to get 300Mbps download and 30Mbps upload speeds. I wanted to hold out for DOCSIS 4.0 since the spec has been released and it's release should be in the next year or two but unfortunately I had to just bite the bullet and buy the ARRIS SurfBoard SB8200 DOCSIS 3.1 modem. For the price I think this is the best cable modem 2020 as it offers top spec's with FAKE 10Gbps speeds (marketing lies because even with BOTH Ethernet ports in LAG that's only 2Gbps! But the chipset supports a theoretical 10Gbps that you'll NEVER see🤦‍♂️🤣) I paid $149 on Amazon for my docsis 3.1 cable modem SB8200 by Arris. The sb8200 docsis 3.1 cable modem has been rock solid since I got it and it uses the Broadcom BCM3390 chipset. I hope you liked this docsis 3.1 cable modem review as it has restored my ISP's speed that I'm paying for.
