In this video entitled “Quick Watercolor Sketch, A Preliminary Study for a Larger Watercolor Orchid Painting” I demonstrate how to lay in and resolve the pencil sketch, which is the first step in creating a watercolor painting, and I guide viewers through the entire drawing process from the first pencil marks to the finished drawing.

In addition to discussing and demonstrating the drawing process, I introduce a new tool, the “Aqua Brush,” and I use this tool in conjunction with traditional paint brushes to create a quick watercolor sketch that will serve as a preliminary study for a larger and more detailed painting. As in all my watercolor painting videos, my instructions are designed to guide viewers in the process of creating a beautiful watercolor painting, while at the same time providing a clear understanding of the fundamentals of classic, transparent watercolor painting.
