Cockapoo "Winnie" From Anxiety & Aggressive to Happy & Confident!

10 Month Old Cockapoo came with some separation anxiety which had turned into aggression. She would be aggressive with whatever and whomever was keeping her from her mom. She also struggled with some resource guarding issues. In her short life, she had learned that aggression is what keeps her safe and that her safety was her own responsibility.

We know that aggression is most likely part of who she is and so we wanted to show her where that was encouraged in play. We made her feel like she is the best prey snatcher in the game of fetch and that she is the best fighter in the game of tug. Showing her how and where to be herself made it easier to show her when those genetic behaviors were unacceptable. We also built her confidence and our language through play so she felt good about who she is and could understand the expectations and that I would look out for her safety. I'm super proud of how far she came to the point of being reliable even off leash!
