June 7th, 1844 nearly the exact same accusations are thrown at Joseph Smith, only... they have no witnesses and are calling for the end of the Charter- which protects the Citizens of Nauvoo, the Latter Day Saints from mobs, allows them to legally have a defense system (which was ended anyway after Joseph Smith died and was why the 20 plus thousand Latter Day Saints had a mass exodus to Utah in 1846- their homes and crops were burned):

Emma Smith and W.W.Phelps wrote, "The Voice of Innocence", to publicly denounce the practice of Spiritual wifery, Emma edits Phelps
version for the women, who in hundreds shout "Amen"- condemning everything that devalues women and robs young women of thei innocence (as Higbee was, he was attacking young girls walking to Spelling school); she condemns J.C.
