Race up the mountain: DR650 and Husky 701︱Cross Training Adventure

http://crosstrainingenduro.com A bit of fun and games. A race up the mountain range! It's not a serious race of course. We stay at a pace where we can avoid oncoming traffic. Welcome to Cross Training Adventure, we are into all things dual sport and adventure on the east coast of Australia. There are some pretty steep drop-offs if we ran off the road. And we didn't bother lowering our air pressures due to a lot of road riding on this trip. So those are our excuses for the relatively slow pace. This is my first trip with major changes to the DR650's suspension. Check out our reviews of various adventure bikes and dual sport bikes. A pair of old Suzuki RMX250 forks have been adapted to the front. It has longer suspension travel so it matches the increased height of the rear end due to a recently added 18 inch rear wheel. And the rear shock has finally been revalved with a heavier spring. It's taking a while to get used to it. But I'm enjoying it so far. What else? I've clocked up 3000km with the Motoz Rallz tyres now and they've been great. If you like dual sport riding in Australia then you might like our adventure riding vids. They seem to perform almost as well as a knobby like the Dunlop D606, but much better manners and quieter for road riding. I'll do a full revienappier throttle response. And anything over 40hp will just be lost in wheelspin on this type of track. I've had quite a few guys complain about me riding on the wrong side of the track as it's a safety risk with oncoming traffic. If it really worries you, just go to another channel. I'm prepared to tolerate a certain amount of risk to get good camera angles of the motorbike in front. I also don't like riding in dust and sitting on the rear quarter is a great way to get clean air. Keen on adventure riding in Australia? Check out our vids. Also I've got the Gopro set on the widest angle possible which curves the edges of the frame and makes corners look tighter than they really are. I'm always focused on riding within a safety margin where I can avoid any oncoming vehicles. Zero problems so far with 20 years of doing this... touch wood. The rocky sections. I am really enjoying the new suspension setup. I'm deliberately riding the nasty bits and the suspension is just soaking it all up. Woohoo. Here's the summit. Time to back off and stay at our normal sedate pace. Years ago I remember we would sometimes push hard for hours at a time but in our 50s and 60s it makes much more sense to only occasionally get on the throttle for a few minutes. I hope you enjoyed the ride! We have occasional detours to places like Vietnam, Cambodia, Romania and Canada. This is one of our three channels, there's also a Cross Training Trials channel, and a Cross Training Enduro channel. All three are equally dodgy. We are the 27th most watched dirt channel in Uzbekistan. We have won the polished turd award five years in a row. And we have a world record 25 class action lawsuits for inaccurate information. We think the whole motorbike scene is getting too commercial. So called dual sport riding reviews are just glossy ads nowdays. Everyone is trying to sell you stuff you don't need, convince you to buy the latest model with anodized coffee cup holders for your trips to the coffee shop. Of course if you are cashed up and into bling, go for it. All we are saying is there's also the budget option for adventure riding. And it won't hold you back. Why? We reckon it's 80% the rider and 20% the bike. So the Cross Training Adventure focus is just get out there and have fun on two wheels. Instead of obsessing over the latest blinged out Beemer, which tyres to fit or spending a fortune on your suspension or billet alloy gas cap. So most of our adventure riding vids will feature the much loved bush pig, the Suzuki DR650. And we've done a 10 part series on how to unleash the mighty beast that lurks within. What else? Cross Training Adventure actively avoids sponsorship. We like doing seriously critical reviews. Manufacturers make some really bad mistakes. and there is a lot of dodgy crap being sold out there. Instead of glowing dual sport reviews for kickbacks or free product, we will try to keep the buggers honest. So subscribe. Or don't subscribe to our Cross Training Adventure riding channel. The main thing is get out and ride while you can with dual sport riding or Adventure riding in Australia, Canada, Vietnam, Romania and beyond! So check out Cross Training Adventure.
