Mini Lathe AC Motor Upgrade

This is not a tutorial on how I upgraded my mini lathe's motor, but rather an explanation on the why. I have been asked many times about the motor upgrade, and I thought it best to make a video about it. The way I went about it may be a little unorthodox but it suits my needs.

The motor is a 390w (1/2HP) AC induction motor that runs off single phase electricity. I originally implemented this as a temporary upgrade when my DC power board that came with the lathe blew and I required a quick fix. However I liked the upgrade so much that it has become my permanent method for powering the mini lathe.
