BEST SCRUB BARS!!! Make Fluffy and Exfoliating Solid Scrub Bars!!!

Learn how to make the BEST solid scrub bars!!! The bars are firm on the outside and fluffy & soft on the inside. Once activated, the bar becomes a fluffy blanket of exfoliating, cleansing, & moisturizing goodness!

RECIPE: 1/8 cup baking soda, 1 tbsp citric acid, ½ tbsp powder surfactant (sodium lauryl sulfoacetate), 1/8 cup clay (Kaolin), 1 tbsp starch (I used potato), 7 ounces exfoliant (I used ½ each of sugar & fine dead sea salt). Sieve & mix dry ingredients. Potato starch is filled with antioxidants, minerals, & vitamins that are great for skin. proven to reduce wrinkles, dark spots, & pimples. It’s a Great toner, exfoliator, & cleanser- all while also moisturizing and softening skin. *** OPTIONAL: You may add color powder/mica & dried herbs/flowers if you wish. * {Add elements that enhance the scent/theme of scrub}. I scented scrub with mint, jasmine, & a bit of lavender. So, I added a bit of purple color powder, mint leaves, & lavender buds.
MELT (on low) 2 ounces soap, (melt & pour base), 1 ounce butter or oil (mango butter), & 1 ounce emulsifying wax. Once melted, take off heat & cool to 120 degrees. Add 3 ml of fragrance oil & preservative if the scrub will be introduced to water (like setting it on side of the tub) - use liquid germall plus (linked). Now add it to dry ingredients. Mix well; squeezing mix between fingers.
MULTICOLORED SCRUB: You can divide batch of scrub into # of colors you want. I took a little bit of scrub, divided it into 4, & added a bit of mica to each. NOTE: *Scrub should be warm when molding, about 90-100 degrees. You can place in microwave for 5 second intervals; it doesn’t take long to get it warm! You may add decorative elements before molding bars. I added lavender buds on some, but salts for most. Choose colors that complement the scrub; usually this will be nearly the opposite color. QUICK TIP: My favorite scrubs were the ones with just a little salt & only 2 different colors. It’s hard not to go crazy, adding lots of salts & several different colors of scrub in one bar (believe me, I know) but in this case – less is better. Pack molds well & make tops flat. Then freeze for at least an hour- this way the scrub bar will freeze solid & come out whole (the longer you freeze, the less likely that the bars will break coming out of the mold)! Scrubs wont stick together in jar. Stack them lightly on top each other (don’t smoosh together) & don't expose them to extreme heat. For the large bars, shrink-wrap them.
SUBSTITUTIONS: You can use a different wax, however the amounts will NOT be the same & further testing/formulating is highly recommended.
