Illustrated "PAMS Radio Jingles" "PAMS Series 29 Go Go" "WKDA 1240 AM Nashville, TN"

I've always heard PAMS Series 29, "Go Go" as the Hyper-Charged brother of Series 27, "Jet Set"; certainly, it was something of a continuation or a "part-2" extension. Practically all of the elements that went into "Jet Set" were back again: punchy brass parts being doubled by soprano, Gleni Tai; an all-male, 4-voice group providing emphatic and bold vocals; various sound effects in the tradition of _Musique Concrète_: This time around, however, everything was amped up and sped up with much punchier, and sometimes very complex music beds. There was also extra layers of vocals provided by a group of female voices (sounding like the group that would appear on Series 30, "The 'N Set."

By the mid sixties, it had become a "Go Go" world and PAMS was brilliant to build an entire package around that spirit.

Featured here is the Series 29 jingles for Nashville's WKDA. A little background on the station:

"WKDA was the first radio station in Nashville after the "big three" of WSM, WLAC and WSIX. It went on the air in 1947, and within ten years had assumed the role of being the city's most popular station among 18-49 year old adults and teenagers. By the late 1950's it was playing popular music, which by then was rock and roll. It had the area's top air personalities, the most exciting contests, innovative station promotions and jingle packages that listeners enjoyed hearing almost as much as the music the deejay's played. The station frequently fronted concerts featuring the singers and groups whose records they played, and put out a weekly survey of the area's top-selling records. And despite the station's lower power and lack of history compared to the "big three," was tops in ratings every year from 1957-1967."
