This is a story of Mary, a circus elephant that was hanged publicly in the town of Erwin, Tennessee in 1916. This is a very sad and disturbing story but one that is needed to be shared in honour and memory of this particular elephant and many other animals who have been abused in the name of entertainment for humans. This is a story of a gentle giant who was tortured to the point where she snapped.
