Blind dog overcomes depression by giving birth - Alex - Takis Shelter

Alex was one the most difficult cases of dog rehabilitations I had to make. Most dogs get better psychologically between 2-20 days of coming in the shelter. Alex was depressed for months and nothing made her feel good. Not food, not other dogs, not love from humans. Nothing. Maybe her blindness was a new thing for her and could not adjust to it. So I as a measure of last resort I let her give birth. I thought if she had to think about others she would forget her own problems. And I was right!!! Alex was finally happy. I neutered all her pups and her and now they have a private area in the shelter that they live happily. Many critisized me for letting her give birth but I don't care, it was the right thing to do and help Alex get over depression.
