Fierce clashes with Minneapolis police over death of George Floyd

Anger over the killing of an unarmed black man by a white police officer erupted on the streets of Minneapolis and on Los Angeles

In Minneapolis , hundreds of protesters, many wearing face coverings, filled streets near the scene of the deadly encounter for a second day, some clashing with police in riot gear who fired tear gas into the crowds and lobbed concussion grenades.

A Black Lives Matter march in Los Angeles stopped traffic on a major highway and video showed demonstrators climbing onto a police vehicle which drove away, hurling at least two demonstrators to the ground.

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey on Wednesday called on prosecutors to file criminal charges against a white police officer shown on a bystander's video pressing his knee into the neck of a handcuffed African-American man who later died at a hospital.
