Fish Recipe also Great for Diabetics – Seasoned Tilapia Fillets by What Shall I Cook
Ingredients:
4 tilapia fillets (fresh or thawed)
2 tablespoons olive oil or melted butter
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon paprika (for color and flavor)
½ teaspoon dried oregano or Italian seasoning
½ teaspoon black pepper
½ teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
Juice of ½ lemon (plus wedges for serving)
Optional: pinch of cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes for heat
Instructions:
Prep the Fish: Pat the tilapia fillets dry with paper towels. This helps the seasoning stick better.
Seasoning Mix: In a small bowl, mix together garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, oregano, salt, and black pepper.
Coat the Fillets: Rub each tilapia fillet with olive oil or butter, then evenly sprinkle the seasoning mix on both sides. Add a squeeze of lemon juice over the fillets.
Cook:
Pan-sear method: Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Add a little oil and cook fillets for about 3–4 minutes per side, until golden and flaky.
Oven method: Preheat to 400°F (200°C). Place fillets on a greased baking sheet. Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until fish flakes easily with a fork.
Serve: Garnish with lemon wedges and fresh herbs (like parsley) if desired. Serve with rice, steamed vegetables, or a fresh salad.
