Making a [Story] Game in 48 HOURS! | GMTK Game Jam 2020

Hey y'all! Sorry to put U.I.G. devlogs on hold for a week, but big moves were being for the GMTK Game Jam 2020! This is the Making Of: Mission Control, my submission to the GMTK Game Jam this year—and my second game jam ever, i.e. making a game in 48 hours :P

For this jam, I wanted to a) do something out of my comfort zone and b) develop a tool that I could use in U.I.G. One of the tools that's central to my final vision for the project is a dialogue system, so I ran with that idea and created a narrative game for this jam, a kind of interactive fiction.

It's a story about a mission control office and its graveyard shift watchman, Colt. Things are put into perspective when he receives a distress call from a young pilot in crisis. I hope you'll check out the game, and I hope you enjoyed learning about the process of making it. 2020 is kind of a crazy year... hope this gives you some respite.
