Crew of Sunken Indonesian submarine sings ‘Goodbye’

The Indonesian Military (TNI) has released a video showing the crew of the sunken Navy submarine singing the well-known song “Sampai Jumpa,” meaning goodbye.
The video was recorded as a farewell for the outgoing commander of the Indonesian Navy’s submarine corps, whose successor took up his role in early March.
The TNI has confirmed one of the men is the late Heri Oktavian, on the left facing the camera, the commander of KRI Nanggala 402.
All 53 crew aboard an Indonesian submarine that disappeared last week were killed, the military said as it confirmed the vessel had been found in pieces on the seafloor on April 25.

President Joko Widodo described the sailors as Indonesia’s “best patriots.”
Authorities have not given an explanation for the accident but said that the submarine may have suffered a blackout that left its crew unable to resurface.

KRI Nanggala 402 was delivered to Indonesia in 1981, and its age might be a potential factor for the investigators to look at, analysts have said.
