Buying Fake Spotify Streams Until I Get Banned

What would happen if you recorded a song, released it on Spotify and bought as many fake streams as you could afford? Would you get away with it, or would Spotify ban you? And, if the latter, how soon would you be banned? After 1,000 streams? 10,000? 1,000,000?

I want to find out so, in this video, I’m gonna do exactly that - buying Spotify streams until I get BANNED from the platform.

According to rappers like Kendrick Lamar (‘Not Like Us’, ‘luther’, ‘tv off’), Yeat (‘COME N GO’, ‘If We Being Real’, ‘Money so big’) and J. Cole (‘No Role Modelz’, ‘MIDDLE CHILD’, ‘Work Out’), streambotting is quite prevalent in the music industry. Kendrick accuses artists of fabricating their numbers on ‘N95’, with Cole and Yeat making similar accusations on ‘A Lot’ (with 21 Savage) and ‘SO WHAT’ respectively.

Furthermore, musicians such as Drake (‘ICEMAN’, ‘NOKIA’, ‘DIE TRYING’), Young Thug (‘Trance’, ‘Go Crazy’, ‘pick up the phone’), Gunna (‘wgft’, ‘one of wun’, ‘Drip Too Hard’) and Kanye West (‘Flashing Lights’, ‘Bound 2’, ‘CARNIVAL’) have been rumoured to have artificially inflated their numbers, with Drake in particular being cited in a fake Spotify stream lawsuit in January 2026.

But, if fake streams are so abundant among famous musicians, how come they never get banned from Spotify? Or Apple Music or SoundCloud for that matter? I have a theory that major streaming platforms would let massive musicians like The Weeknd (‘One Of The Girls’, ‘Starboy’, ‘Timeless’), Taylor Swift (‘The Fate of Ophelia’, ‘Opalite’, ‘Cruel Summer’) and Ariana Grande (‘Into You’, ‘One Last Time’, ‘7 rings’) fake their numbers, but ban smaller artists for doing the same thing.

So, to test my theory, I found a Playboi Carti (‘RATHER LIE’, ‘TOXIC’, ‘EVIL J0RDAN’) and Ken Carson (‘the acroynm’, ‘Yale’, ‘Fighting My Demons’) type beat on YouTube, laid down some vocals and uploaded it to Spotify.

Next, I bought some fake streams from a sketchy website. I started off small, buying just 1,000 plays, but quickly worked my way up to 1,000,000. With my streams slowly but surely coming through, what would happen next? Would Spotify give me a warning…or straight up ban me?

Or, on the contrary, would I see a meteoric rise into hip-hop stardom? Maybe I could become an overnight sensation like EsDeeKid (‘4 Raws’, ‘Phantom’, ‘Century’), Don Toliver (‘OCTANE’, ‘Rendezvous’, ‘Rosary’) or Doechii (‘Anxiety’, ‘DENIAL IS A RIVER’). I might even kick off a decade-long career in rap, becoming the next Future (‘Like That’, ‘Too Many Nights’, ‘LIL DEMON’), Travis Scott (‘Trance’, ‘Fe!n’, ‘goosebumps’) or Lil Uzi Vert (‘What You Saying’, ‘Just Wanna Rock’, ‘20 Min’)!

Which one will it be? Will I become a hip-hop star…or get banned from Spotify? You’ll have to watch to find out!
