These Primates are the Watchmen of Ethiopia’s Mountains
Meet the mountaineer of the primate world: the gelada. A close relative of the baboon, these agile monkeys make their home in the Semien Mountains in northern Ethiopia – a habitat that requires excellent climbing abilities. ↠Subscribe: https://www.youtube.com/c/TerraMaterOfficial?sub_confirmation=1
Unusually, though, geladas don’t climb many trees. They also prefer to keep their diet strictly grass-based, which can sometimes bring them into conflict with humans and has led to special protection measures. We visited their high-altitude home to see just what makes these primates so unique.
