Don’t ever date a girl from Colorado, cause then everywhere you take her after she’ll complain that is isn’t Colorado, maybe you like nice, France, or Bangkok, Thailand, well I tell you what it sure as hell ain’t nothing compared to getting a tour of the coors factory outside Denver! Ya don’t wanna take her to a show cause it ain’t nothing like when she saw billy strings at red rocks! Anyway, that’s just a little bit of unsolicited advice. So, I’ve been playing this song for a while but I never liked how I was arranging it, I didn’t like playing it exactly like Townes, he plays great, but i felt weird trying to imitate him, I think he’d be happier knowing I tried to make it my own. So here I am, I play it in open d, he might be in open g I can’t remember. I was listening to a lot of Tampa red this morning, I’ve been liking playing that little slide guitar stuff recently it’s fun, it can be difficult, especially to keep the volume at a good level, not too quite and not too loud to take over the vocals. Well, I hope you enjoy this take, I think it’s pretty long I probably shouldn’t have played a solo, I shoulda just sang the damn song, but I don’t really mind, I thought it would be fun, and if that’s what sets me free then bless it, I will gladly accept.
