Glider and Black Hawk Helicopter Get Close at 30 feet AGL!

Did my position call save my life or did the Black Hawk helicopter have some kind of avoidance warning system? Either way I am glad it turned when it did. We were on a collision course just feet above the ground with my glider going 160 miles per hour and they looked like they were going fast as well. I didn't see the helicopter until it turned to avoid me. Neither one of us expected to find the other one mile from the airport below 50 feet and both of us had the right to be flying there. I have to admit doing a low pass like this I was pretty focused on the air and ground in front of me. This raw footage video taken on a Hero 3 camera is a good reminder to keep your eyes open in other directions as well for low flying aircraft.

How often do you encounter an Army helicopter at 30 feet and coming at you? Crazy. I was lucky and glad they either saw me, heard my call or detected my transponder signal. Bruno
