Calshot Spit Lightvessel (LV78) used to be anchored off the Spit in Southampton Water until it was decommissioned in 1978 and until recently was a static attraction at the Ocean Village marina in Southampton. In November 2010 it was moved a short distance to the Trafalgar dock where, after renovation, it was to be displayed at the Aeronautica attraction, due to open in 2015. The plans for Aeronautica came to a halt in January 2012. In December 2019 the ship relocated to the Solent Sky museum in order to be converted into part of the museum care.
It was built by the Thornycroft Shipyard in Southampton.
Hannover - registered in Hamburg - Built in 1955
Queen Mary - Launched 26 September 1934 and built by John Brown at Clydebank in Scotland.
Maiden Voyage - 27 May 1936 - Retired from service 9 December 1967.
She left Southampton for the last time on 31 October 1967 and sailed to the port of Long Beach, California where she remains permanently moored. The ship serves as a tourist attraction featuring restaurants, a museum and a hotel.

The Calshot Spit LightTrinity House lightvessel (LV 78) that was anchored off the spit and which until recently was a static attraction at the Ocean Village marina in Southampton. In November 2010 it was moved a short distance to the Trafalgar dock where, after renovation, it was to be displayed at the Aeronautica attraction, due to open in 2015. The plans for Aeronautica came to a halt in January 2012.[10] In December 2019 the ship was relocated to the Solent Sky museum in order to be converted into part of the museum’s cafe.[11] It was built in 1914 by J I Thornycroft shipyard in Southampton and decommissioned in 1978.
At 08.23 in the video - Saunders Roe Princess flying boat appears on the right.
The Saunders-Roe SR.45 Princess was a British flying boat aircraft developed and built by Saunders-Roe at their Cowes facility on the Isle of Wight. It has the distinction of being the largest all-metal flying boat to have ever been constructed.
However only one was ever built although 2 additional airframes cancelled mid-build.
It was 45m in length and had a top speed of 612km/h. It made its maiden flight on 22 August 1952.
