*** Meike 25mm T2.2 MFT Cinema Lens Review ***

Hi
My name is Simon and today i am going to talk about the Meike 25 mm t2.2 Cinema lens

I have been using this lens for more than a year, and maybe two years now.

Both for work projects in a studio, livestreams with the bmpcc4k

And for my hobby films you will see here on this channel

This review is based on using it on the Blackmagic cameras

Even though i shoot mostly hobby films for youtube - a nice prime cinema lens is a useful tool.

Firstly lets talk about why this is called a cinema lens

There is some minor differences between a cinema lens and photography lens.

The light is measured in t-stops instead for f-stops
The markings for both focusing and t-stops are normally on the side of the cinema lenses, as they are with this lens as well.

The aperture or the t-stops can be changed from the lens it self, and not via electronics inside the camera.

The focus wheel, is slower, also known as the focus throw.

This is is made so it is easier to make smooth focus adjustments while filming.

And normally cinema lenses, like the Meike MFT lenses, comes in sets that are quite similar.

This means they are built to use the same filters, like ND filters promists and so on.

Also they tend to have the same size, so that even if you swap out a lens in your kit, you dont have to adjust focus wheels and so on.
Reason #1: Build Quality
I think the lens feel really solid, and does not feel like a lens at this price range.
It has a nice weight, which makes it feel sturdy but not heavy at all.
Both the focus and the aperture wheel feels sturdy and smooth.
This lens is helping me learn how to focus
Reason #2: The Size

I love that is quite small, it is one of the smaller lenses i have owned.

This pairs quite nice with the blackmagic line up.

Reason #3: MFT native

As the name suggests, this is a Micro Four Thirds mounted lens. Which makes it a perfect fit for the BMPCC4K and BMPCC original.

I have not invested in a speed booster yet, and i am not sure i want to, since it costs almost as much as the BMPCC4K Camaera does, at least in my country.

With this lens i dont need a speed booster
Reason #4: The price

The price is around 400 usd, a little less sometimes, but if you take into account the shipping costs it is about right.

This also allows you to build up a kit of lenses even though you dont make big bucks yet.

I know this price still would seem like a lot, to many people but compared to other cinema lenses, and lenses in general it is only a fraction of the cost, of many other cinema lenses

And with the BMPCC4K and a set of these lenses, you can produce beautiful videos.

Reason #5: T2.2

This is not the fastest of fast lenses, but as a cinema lens for this particular price - and for me learning how to do manual focus.

This lens is quite great.

This allows for quite good depth of field and also - takes in quite a lot of light even during late shoots.

Reasons #6: Image

Pairing this with the Blackmagic Raw from the Blackmagic cameras, the meike mft cinema lenses produces great image quality.

I love the look from these lenses, more than i like the look from the Sigma 18-35 mm.

I know this might start a riot, but it is like this lens is more balanced between - not too sharp and not too soft.

Somehow, it feels more... cinematic somehow.

The flares i nice and the bokeh are nice.

This is my opinion..

Reason #7: The feeling

This lens was the reason i fell in love with the blackmagic cameras.

This lens is the reason i enjoy shooting with manual focus and like to learn more about cameras. So i guess this lens is the reason that my channel even exists.
