Dexamethasone is a #drug that is going to be very helpful in treating #covid19.It belongs to a class of drug called #corticosteroids.Corticosteroid are the #hormones that are naturally released by #adrenal gland present at the top of #kidney.#Corticosteroid are powerful #antiinflammatory and #immunosuppressive agents.Corticosteroid (e.g.dexamethasone) circulates in a #blood in binding form,they get bind with #globulin #protein to circulate throughout the body.When #dexamethasone enter the #cell they get unbind and free #steroid enter the cell and bind with it's receptor. #Corticosteroid's receptors are cytoplasmic and present in inactive state having a complex with heat stabilizing #proteins like HSP 90 and x protein.when the #steroid (e.g.dexamethasone here) get bind with #receptor ,proteins get separated and #corticosteroid receptor become activated and complex is formed called #corticosteroid receptor complex.#Corticosteroid receptor complex enter the #nucleus of the cell and interact with #Glucocorticoid Response Element (GRE) or Corticosteroid Response Element (CRE),formation of #mRNA inhibited that causes the #inhibition of #protein formation and so on response
