How to: Replace Ford torque restrictor / gearbox mount (Mondeo, Jaguar X-Type)

Easy DIY guide: Renew the torque restrictor (lower engine or transmission linkage) in Ford’s “TRA” engine mounting system. Featured is a Duratec HE in a Mondeo; the part is identical for all engines across the Mondeo Mk3 and Jaguar X-Type range, and similar linkages are used on many other Ford set-ups.

Required:
* New torque restrictor to suit engine and fitting.
Nb. the example featured is of an identical design geometry for all Mk3 Mondeos and Jag X-Types, but varies in rubber compound for engine weight/power. Here I am using a Jaguar part # spec’ed for a 2.0 L Jag, as this was cheaper than purchasing a Ford-packaged part (note the Jag part nonetheless has a Ford logo...). A V6 or diesel would require a different part #.
* Socket, ratchet handle, and breaker bar
* Brake clean
* Thread-locker to reinstall bolts
* Jack and axle stands, or other suitable and safe way to lift car.
