BERSERK Anti-Cheese Edit I - FIRE OF THE HAWK (Pre-Release)

A lone mercenary named Guts fights for his fortune on the front lines. There he meets Griffith who forces him amongst the ranks of the mercenary company, The Band of the Hawk. This powerful military force blazes across the land of Midland and into the talks of political circles.

Through the conquest of a grand dream, brotherhoods will be born and tested. Through the comfort of bonding fires, dark pasts will arise. Will Guts begin to burn as he closes in on these unyielding flames?

The first of the "BERSERK" (1997) duology that not even Griffith dreamt of! The goal of the "Anti-Cheese Edit" is to condense the original anime and make it more cinematic. The edit reinforces the subtlety and attempts to make for a more smooth and fluid experience. It takes out pointless/repetitious dialogue (there's a lot), corny lines, lengthy/needless exposition, some drawn-out moments, and some repeated/crude animations. Numerous scenes have been reworked, sometimes reorganizing shots or altering audio.

Berserk Anti-Cheese Edit "Fire of the Hawk" (Pre-Release) removes 34% (87 minutes) of footage from the episodes used (not including EP1 & OP/ED). This edit isn't like "Berserk Redux" or "Berserk Recut" in trying to make the anime more canon. Some entire scenes and story aspects are removed, some of which are present in the manga. I love the manga, but I think things could've been handled better in some respects. I didn't see the scenes as important to the development of the story/characters, so I feel the entire drama is still in-tact.
